Submissions for Issue 2 of A Literation are now open!
We will accept poetry, prose, and visual art submissions on the themes discussed below from now until 10 PM CST Thursday, February 7.
Please direct any questions or problems you may have to info@aliteration.com.
Poetry (submit using form on the top right of our site): “Cleaning up”
As much a mental process as it is a physical, cleaning
up is the discarding, resetting, reorganizing, clearing, storing, and
otherwise making look presentable the spatial fields that we inhabit.
Poems that focus on the cleaning up of the less visible, the less
physical, the less literal are what we’re looking for. Go big, go odd,
go vague. Good luck!
Prose (submit using form on the top right of our site): “Identity”
Identity:
(n) The fact of being who or what a person or thing is
(n) The characteristics determining this
The power of identity to shape our lives is strong; we are a combination of so many different things: races, ethnicities, nationalities, sexualities, impurities, diseases, distances, genders, geographical stabilities and instabilities, and so on and so forth. As you tackle this theme, think of the whos, whats, whens, wheres, whys, and hows that combine together to create your character. Think of heritage and ancestry, secrets and mythology; think of what “fact or being” which really does make something what it is. What we are looking for is powerful and insightful literature, both fiction and non-. Be bold and beautiful, honest and passionate, and if you have even a vague desire to submit, follow it.
Visual Art (submit using form on the top right of our site): On either or both themes
Your visual interpretations of either theme, or some combination of both, are invited. Selected pieces will be published within the magazine and perhaps even as the cover.
We’re all excited to read your interpretations of these themes. Please be sure to read the Submission Guidelines prior to submitting your work.
